Anne K. Dixon, 98, Vero Beach
August 17, 1924 – October 4, 2022
Anne K. Dixon was born in Plymouth, Pennsylvania on August 17, 1924, the eldest of three children born to George and Mary Klim, legal immigrants from Lithuania.
She was raised in East Norwalk, Conn., not far from Calf Pasture Beach, and had a humble beginning as the daughter of a union hat maker. As a young girl her chores included collecting chicken eggs and tending the ducks and goats they raised in the small area behind their home. As she matured, she blossomed into a beautiful young woman, and was selected as the official Greeter and Hostess at the prestigious Remington Rand Corporation Executive Headquarters, located in Norwalk, Conn.
As a twentysomething woman while visiting a friend in Jensen Beach, Florida she caught the eye of a young Army Air Force officer, and they were soon married in Mexico Beach, FL, with a military style salute of raised swords shielding their exit from the small chapel.
She enjoyed the military life, and as a member of the Military Officers Wives Club she met and hosted many celebrities, including American icon John Wayne. Anne soon became a mother, an honor and a duty she cherished her entire life. She birthed & raised four children, Dianne Dixon-Brown, Laurel Leary, David Dixon, and Gail Dixon, and in the days when few women worked outside the home, she cared for them full time and then some, with car rides to 4H HorseMasters, modeling classes for her eldest daughter, and fishing trips to the old Memorial Island Bridge.
Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 1964 the Dixon family moved to Vero Beach, FL, where she remained a resident for the next 58 years.
In later years she volunteered at the old Indian River Memorial Hospital as a “grey lady”, was a charter member of the Vero Beach Museum of Art, and was the founder and director of the Vero Beach Antiques Study Club for over 30 years.
She was blessed with six grandchildren, R. Grace Dixon, Shannon Leary, Alex Brown, Caitlyn Hemmes, G. Samuel Dixon, and Ariel Paradis.
On Monday, Oct. 10th Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach will hold Visitation at 10:30 AM, Service at 11:30 AM, followed by Interment at Crestlawn Cemetery Vero Beach, with refreshments at the Dixon Family home after Interment.

Alfredas Butkus, 81, Sebastian
March 15, 1941 – October 1, 2022
Alfredas Butkus, 81, of Sebastian, FL, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 , after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s and kidney failure. He was the beloved husband of Denise Butkus, they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage together.
Al was born on March 15, 1941 in Plunge, Lithuania. He came to the United States of America when he was 8 years old. In 10th grade he joined the US Army serving in the Vietnam War. While in the military he became an accomplished chef, which carried on unto his very last days. Al was a legendary commercial roofer during all his working years, it was his honor to share this trade with his son Adrian Butkus.
Al enjoyed camping, fishing in his boat, and all outdoor activities with his family. He is fondly remembered by many for his cooking, especially for his famous clam chowder and homemade Chinese food. Al delighted in preparing meals for others and always loved a good lobster. He also enjoyed training dogs and had a special bond with his basenji, Joey. Al was the protector, provider, and comedian with his boisterous sense of humor.
Al is survived by his wife Denise Butkus, daughter Jeniece Jackson (Keith Jackson), son Adrian Butkus (Mindy Butkus), grandchildren, Harlie Seymour (Jacob Seymour), Cody Butkus (Mary Butkus), Caden Butkus, Mykolas Jackson, and great grandchild, Cody Butkus Jr. He is also survived by his brother Andy Allen (Judy Allen) and sister Ruth Allen.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 11th at Full Gospel Sons of God church, located at 1665 Harrisburg Pike Columbus, OH 43223. Visitation hours are 4:00 – 6:00 pm with the service beginning at 6:00 pm. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to join for refreshments in the fellowship hall.
