Bradley Curtis Wells, 34, of 79th Street, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery and improper exhibition of a firearm or weapon.

Wells was released Sunday from the Indian River County Jail on $11,500 bond.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an exhibition of a weapon about midnight Saturday in the 12700 block of 79th Street, just west of Fellsmere. Deputies spoke with Fellsmere police who were on scene.

Deputies learned that two off-roading vehicles – a Buggy-style transport vehicle and a utility terrain vehicle – were traveling westbound down 79th Street earlier. Wells was riding in the utility vehicle when he accelerated past the buggy vehicle in an aggressive manner, reports show.

The people inside both vehicles began to argue. Deputies said Wells attacked a man who got out of the Buggy-style vehicle.

Wells grabbed the man’s beard and struck him, reports show. Deputies said Wells pulled out a black SIG Sauer firearm and pointed it at the man.

Wells then hit the man on the head with the butt of the gun, reports show. The man suffered a one-inch cut with “blood pooling down his head,” deputies said.

Deputies arrested Wells then booked him into the county jail. Wells has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. Sept 15, court records show.
