Richard “Ricky” Lee Kinchen, 71, Vero Beach

March 25, 1951 – August 10, 2022

Mr. Richard “Ricky” Lee Kinchen, 71, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Sebastian River Medical Center.

Ricky was born in Vero Beach to the late Leonard James and Desiree Jones Kinchen and was a lifelong resident of the area.  He graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1970.

He was of the Baptist faith and had most recently worked as a security guard at Windsor.  Ricky was a member of the NRA, and had a passion for fishing, caring for animals, and vegetable gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years Cheryl A. Kinchen of Vero Beach, son Ricky Kinchen, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Lake City, Florida, brothers Bobby Kinchen of Vero Beach and Leonard James Kinchen, Jr. of Houston, Texas, sisters Sherry Kinchen of Douglasville, Georgia and Jeannie Kinchen of Fort Worth, Texas, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons Ryan Matthew Kinchen and Randy James Kinchen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to H.A.L.O. Animal Rescue, 710 Jackson Street, Sebastian, Florida 32958 https://halorescuefl.org/donate/ or a no kill animal charity of one’s choice.

A memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 2 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sebastian, Florida.

Doris Hazel Rankin, 94, Vero Beach

June 17, 1928 – August 8, 2022

Doris Hazel Rankin, 94 of Vero Beach, Florida passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the VNA Hospice House.

She was born on June 17, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Vero Beach for 27 years.

Mrs. Rankin retired from a Hallmark Distribution Center after many years as a clerk. She was an avid book reader and excellent gardener. She also loved playing cards.

Survivors include her daughter Dorean Brintle (Edward) of New Gloucester, Maine; her granddaughter Hillary Brintle of Rochester, New York; and her brother George Smith of Rochester, Massachusetts.
