Joseph Frank Casalina, 75, Vero Beach
August 3, 2022
Joseph Frank Casalina, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Francesco and Benedetta Scavone Casalina. The family moved to Babylon, New York in the early fifties.
As a teenager, Joe worked for Vic’s Pizza in downtown Babylon and for his father’s swimming pool company, Island Finishing. In high school, Babylon High School, class of 1965, Joseph met Elizabeth Anne Turner. They were married on August 17, 1968. In 1974, Joseph and Elizabeth (Betty) moved to Vero Beach, Florida with their children, Joseph Jr., Nicholas and Tracey. Joe worked for several years assembling mobile homes at Lakewood Village Mobile Home Park. He and his father built the shuffle board courts there in phase one. Joe then joined Gordy Wolffe in his swimming pool construction company, Advanced Pool Design. Joe was known as the smoothest pool finisher in all of Indian River County. In 1994, Joe started his own company, AAA Pool Enterprises, specializing in pool refinishing. Getting away from the old marcite application and applying Diamond Bright Pebble finish instead – which way outlasted marcite. After a few years, AAA’s main focus became swimming pool maintenance. Some of AAA’s temporary employees were his nephew, Robert DelaCruz and later, his son Joseph after he returned home from the Navy, Nicholas and Tracey also helped their Dad over the years. In the long run, however, Joe was on his own servicing over one hundred clients per week. In 2018 at the age of seventy-one, the client list was reduced as thoughts of retirement were considered. Joe’s license plate read AAA MAN and he will always be remembered as such.
Joseph is survived by his loving family, wife of 54 years Elizabeth, sons Joseph Jr. and his wife Jill of Gladstone, MI, Nicholas and his wife Melissa of Vero Beach and daughter Tracey Anne and Joe Pasco of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Brittney and Scott, Tristen and Shaelyn, Brigitte and Rachael, Angela, Jarred, Austin, Jaelyn and Keltie; step-grandchildren Jason and Jeff; great-grandchildren Connor Douglas and Sasha Dean; sisters Maryann, Rose and her husband Bob, and Francine; brother-in-law Mick; twenty-seven nieces and nephews; thrity great-nieces and great-nephews. Along with his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his sister Carol and niece Tiffany.
Joe’s joy was restoring his 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback which took over twenty years to do and when it was finished, he truly enjoyed cruising around in his power car.
