Early voting for Primary Election begins Saturday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Voters can make their way to the polls as early as Saturday to cast ballots for the Aug. 23 Primary Election, Supervisor of Elections officials said.

Early voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Saturday through Aug. 20. Residents can pick candidates for an elected position at the following three early voting sites:

Sebastian City Hall Council Chambers – 1225 Main Street, Sebastian
Supervisor of Elections Office – 4375 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach
Indian River County Main Library – 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach

The wait times for each early voting site can be viewed on the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections website.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be turned in by 7 p.m. to the Supervisor of Elections Office on election day to be counted, election officials said. The vote-by-mail ballots may be returned to a secure ballot intake station at the early voting sites during the selected hours, or in person to the Supervisor of Elections Office.

“Voted ballots must be placed in the official ballot return envelope provided and the voter must sign the Voter’s Certificate on the envelope prior to returning your ballot,” Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan said in a statement.

The deadline to request a mail ballot is at 5 p.m. Saturday, election officials said. The mail ballots can be obtained online at the Supervisor of Elections website, by phone or in person during business hours.

“More than 44,000 mail ballots have been delivered to voters with requests on file and 9,583 of those have already been voted and returned,” election officials said. “If you are interested in checking the status of your vote-by-mail ballot, visit VoteIndianRiver.gov, under the ‘I Want To…’ drop-down menu.”

Vote-by-mail requests can be made for all elections through 2022, officials said. Those who want more information can visit the Supervisor of Elections website or call the elections office at 772-226-4700.
