INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Patrick Space Force Base’s explosive ordnance disposal team was called to Indian River County to remove an old military munition found on a beach Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported, and no evacuations were ordered, Indian River County sheriff’s officials said.

The munition was found near the 1800 block of South Highway A1A, north of Round Island Beach Park. It was unclear if the explosive device was live.

Sheriff’s deputies and Indian River County Fire Rescue crews were at the scene Wednesday. Deputies advised beachgoers to stay back 600 feet away from the munition.

No further details were immediately available.
