Free Admission for National Get Outdoors Day

The Environmental Learning Center will offer free admission on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 for National Get Outdoors Day also known as GO Day.   National Get Outdoors Day, held on the second Saturday in June, is a nationwide event coordinated by the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable and the US Forest Service.  The FREE admission serves to encourage people to get outside and celebrate the day.

Guests can visit the Discovery Station Touch Tanks, walk the trails, and enjoy the nature playscape.  The lagoon side picnic area and Thomas R. Schidel Education and Event lawn will be available for visitors who would like to bring lunch and spend the day.  Reservations are suggested for canoe and kayak rentals and pontoon boat tours. The ELC will be open on Get Outdoors Day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Environmental Learning Center is a 64-acre island nature park surrounded by the Indian River Lagoon.    The ELC is open seven days a week and located at the western foot of the Wabasso Bridge in Indian River County. The nonprofit nature center is a destination for water activities, walking trails and wellness programs. With a mission to educate, inspire and empower all people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well-being, the ELC is committed to sharing the importance of protecting and restoring our natural resources.
