INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies are searching for a man they said has been missing since last weekend. The man, Douglas Wayne Pierce, has a high-functioning form of autism, sheriff’s officials said.

Pierce, 40, was last seen by his family about 8:30 a.m. April 29, Indian River County sheriff’s officials said. Deputies said Pierce left on foot from the 400 block of 7th Road Southwest – his last known address.

Officials said Pierce was last seen wearing khaki shorts and a red shirt. Pierce was described as 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

“It is possible he got on the GoLine bus at Route 6, which goes to the Intergenerational Facility,” sheriff’s officials said. “If you have any information, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 772-569-6700.”

No further information was immediately available.
