At Balloon Festival, what a bunch of hot air – and fun!

It wasn’t quite up, up and away, but last weekend’s Vero Beach Balloon Festival made for some colorful entertainment, as some half-dozen tethered hot-air balloons floated above the Indian River County Fairgrounds on Sunday.

Although high winds prevented balloons from ascending on Saturday, folks were kept amused on terra firma with activities that included music, festival food and a variety of vendor booths.

On Sunday, adventurous attendees were given a birds-eye view from the baskets of the brightly colored balloons, and as the sun went down, the night sky was aglow with lights from a laser show and the tethered balloons, which seemingly swayed to the music.
