TREASURE COAST JAZZ SOCIETY [TCJS]

Mark Geen’s Jazz Quintet broke attendance records for the TCJS concert held January 15th at the Vero Beach Yacht Club.

The groups’ “SALUTE TO BENNY GOODMAN”  told the story musically and with commentary from  Mark Green showing the rise of a 12 year old clarinet student to become the King of Swing in the 1930’s,40’s and 50’s..

The band featuring clarinetist  Bill Shine revisited Benny’s hits  including Let’s Dance,Savoy, & The Angels Sing, My Mirv Bis Du Schoen, with vocalist Leti Metcalf singing Blue Moon,

I Cried For You and More Than You Know..

The band finished the concert with the memorable Goodman 1936 Carnegie Hall  hit of Sing, Sing, Sing that then featured Gene Krupa. Drummer Claudio Bedardi more than emulated the Krupa solo.

The band received a standing ovation from the audience..

The next concert featuring favorite Eddie Metz Trio will be held February 19th at 12:30.
