Ballet Vero Beach Announces Fellowship Initiative for Dancers

BALLET VERO BEACH ANNOUNCES
UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP WITH

INDIAN RIVER STATE COLLEGE
AND THE LEARNING ALLIANCE

New Fellowship Initiative For Dancers
Provides A Unique Approach

Ballet Vero Beach is thrilled to unveil a brand-new fellowship program beginning Fall 2022. Working with Indian River State College and The Learning Alliance, Ballet Vero Beach is establishing a unique program that combines professional performance experience with the company, quality higher education with Indian River State College, and unmatched training in arts integration, arts literacy, and the science of teaching with The Learning Alliance.

The Fellowship Initiative will be completely free for applicants with Florida residency, and, at the end of the two-year program, fellows will emerge with an Associate Degree from Indian River State College, résumé building professional experience with Ballet Vero Beach, additional arts training within the Performing and Visual Arts Department of Indian River State College, ancillary education from The Learning Alliance, and hands-on teaching experience provided through Ballet Vero Beach’s education and engagement initiatives.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to thrive in both the college and company environments offered by this unique program.

The Fellowship Initiative has been in development by all three organizations for the past several years. Ballet Vero Beach Artistic Director/CEO Adam Schnell states that the new program was born out of necessity. “With the cost of higher education skyrocketing, dwindling job opportunities for young dancers, and our desire to assist The Learning Alliance and The School District of Indian River County in their quest to attract, train, and retain top quality teaching talent in the district, we saw an opportunity to really make an impact.” The initiative has the potential to reach well beyond the enrolled fellows and change the face of the region.
