Gifford Youth Orchestra announces 18th Annual Concert November 6, 2021

(Vero Beach, FL) The Gifford Youth Orchestra (GYO), established by Dr. Crystal Bujol, announces its 18th Annual Concert on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 2pm at the Gifford Community Center.

After last year’s virtual concert, this year’s concert will be an in-person celebration of music performed by the amazing students in the GYO program.

Five Indian River County Rotary Clubs are collectively sponsoring a special segment of the concert dedicated to the Peace Initiative. Musician Jeryl Thompson wrote a special composition for the occasion, which will have its world premiere at the concert. The song will be presented in a unique and creative way by the students and teachers.

“So many wonderful things are happening with the Gifford Youth Orchestra,” said Dr. Bujol. “Amazing, beneficial, constructive things that will allow us to better serve the many eager and talented students coming through our portals.  The GYO Board, Staff, and Teachers are thrilled to be expanding our classes and developing new curricula. We’re passionate about delivering our trademark brand of music education to enrich and empower the lives of more and more children.  After 18 years of violins plus, we are once again delighted to invite everyone to our FREE annual concert.”

Under the direction of Joan Haar (Music Director), Sue Lorimier (Piano Instructor) and Lynn DiMenna (Vocal Instructor), students will perform with stringed instruments, on the piano, in music ensembles, and in vocal works.

For one student, Jada Powell, this will be her last concert as she graduates from Vero Beach High School in the Spring of 2022. As Concert Master, Ms. Powell will be performing solo as well as directing all other students.

Established in 2003 by Dr. Bujol at the prompting of Gifford resident Annie Powell, GYO’s mission is to provide education and training in various cultural and performing arts for the youth of Gifford and neighboring communities.

With a core focus on mastering stringed instruments, over 250 young people have had instruction opportunities in music, drama, and the vocal arts.

The 18th Annual Concert is FREE and will take place at the Gifford Community Center at 4855 43rd Ave in Gifford on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 2pm. Donations will be accepted. Masks are not required, but are highly recommended.
