2 teens hurt in Monday night shooting at Victory Park Apartments

GIFFORD — Two teenagers were wounded after a gunman dressed in all black fired shots at their vehicle at an apartment complex late Monday, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies returned to the area Tuesday to interview witnesses and comb for evidence.

The juveniles – whose identities and genders were not publicly released – were taken to area hospitals, Indian River County sheriff’s officials said. Updates on their conditions were not immediately available.

The shooting happened about 9 p.m. at Victory Park Apartments complex, just south of Lindsey Road and east of 43rd Avenue in Gifford. Deputies said the teenagers were among a group of five people riding in a vehicle through the complex.

Then, an unidentified person walking in the area sprayed bullets at the vehicle, striking the teenagers, sheriff’s officials said. It was unclear if deputies were actively searching for the suspected shooter.

Detectives were working to determine if the shooting was targeted or random.
