Leonard “Lenny” James Despensa, 78

December 24, 1942 – September 03, 2021

Mr. Leonard “Lenny” James Despensa, 78, died September 3, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic – Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida.

He was born December 24, 1942 in New York, New York and lived in Sebastian, Florida since 2018, after moving there from Methuen, MA.

Leonard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served as an M.P. during the conflict in the Congo in the sixties.

He was the owner for many years of Aladdin’s Lamp, lamp and gift stores in Lawrence and Haverhill, MA and was a member of the American Legion, Methuen post 122.

Survivors include wife Phyllis A. Despensa of Sebastian, FL, and children Aaron Russo of Somersworth, NH, Andrew Russo of Exeter, NH, Mark Despensa of Merritt Island, FL, Felicia Demont of Sebastian, FL; and Richard Ruediger of Atkinson, NH. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Dispensa of Billerica, MA, Marie Despensa of Somersworth, NH, nephews Ian and Evan Holdstock and grandchildren Sophie, Lilliana, Penelope and Corbin Russo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Loretta Dispensa of Haverhill, MA and Harry Dispensa of Hampstead, NH.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
