Man critical after late Sunday shooting

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An unidentified man remains in critical condition after being shot outside of his home late Sunday in the southern part of the county, deputies said.

This was the second shooting to occur in Indian River County in less than a week. Detectives said they believe the more recent shooting was an isolated and targeted incident.

But, the motive behind the shooting was unclear.

Indian River County deputies said the shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Waterside Lane Southwest. The location is south of Oslo Road and east of 27th Avenue Southwest.

Detectives said the man was shot in his abdomen. The man returned fire on the unidentified shooter, deputies said.

Detectives were reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings that captured the incident. Anyone with information on the shooting should contact sheriff’s Det. Phil Daugherty at 772-978-6163.
