Driver cited in school bus vs SUV crash

Update: An Indian River County school bus driver was cited Tuesday after deputies said they turned south in front of a northbound sports utility vehicle, causing a crash.

The crash happened at 43rd Street and 38th Avenue, Indian River County deputies said. The bus carried more than 20 students, but none were hurt in the collision.

A 3-year-old in the SUV was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Another school bus driver arrived at the crash site to take the students home, School District officials said.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — No serious injuries were reported after a sports utility vehicle collided with a school bus – carrying more than 20 students – Tuesday afternoon, deputies said.

The crash happened at 43rd Street and 38th Avenue, just north of St. Peter’s MBC Middle School, Indian River deputies said.

The students aboard the bus were not hurt, deputies said. Deputies said a 3-year-old in the SUV was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Another school bus driver was expected to arrive at the crash site and take the students home. No further details were available.
