The City of Sebastian and the City’s Natural Resources Board presents their annual Arbor Day & Earth Day Celebration, to be held at Riverview Park on Saturday April 24th, from 9am- 4pm. As always  admission, children’s activities, and take-home crafts are FREE.

This year’s event promises to be out greatest yet, as the City and its Natural Resources Board introduces  the Sustainable Sebastian Initiative with FREE logo canvas tote bags for the first 200 families in  attendance! The celebration will showcase the work of local environmental groups, such as Keep Indian  River Beautiful, the Environmental Learning Center, and Wild Florida Rescue. Join us at 9am for the  opening ceremony and a Mayoral Proclamation followed by a Tai Chi demonstration in recognition of  World Tai Chi Day. Throughout the day there will be live music performances featuring Jason Nail,  Robert Johnson, and the Golden Ukers. Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute will have their marine  mammal ambulance, Indian River County’s Sea Turtle Conservation Program will be exhibiting how they  assess and monitor sea turtles on our beaches, and the Brevard Zoo will be recruiting helpers to plant  and adopt mangroves. If you feel like getting wet, volunteer to help attach oyster mats to our dock  pilings to create a “living dock.” This year will also feature our first ever virtual scavenger hunt.  Download the “Eventzee” application on your mobile device and complete challenges for prizes.

Sebastian’s Natural Resources Board is a volunteer board comprised of nine City residents. The Board  meets in Sebastian’s City Hall Council Chambers on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss our City’s  environmental concerns and assist the City staff in decisions regarding Sebastian’s natural resources.  The Earth Day & Arbor Day Celebration is free community event offered for the purpose of  environmental education and outreach. This is NOT a for-profit or fundraising event.
