She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 5, 1921 to her parents Leonard and Margaret Porter Altenbaugh. On July 24, 1943 she married Richard R. In 1940, at the age of 19, she won the title of U.S. Roller Figure Skating Champion. She continued to love to skate and to follow competitions throughout her life. She loved a good party and hosting get-togethers at the family home. Edna had a great love for animals and the family was blessed to have horses and several dogs over the years. Edna and Dick loved to travel and enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada and other locations. She was an avid golfer, playing with family and friends as a regular at Oakland Beach Golf Club in Conneaut Lake. After moving to Vero Beach she continued to golf and was still seen at the Vista Plantation driving range at age 90. She enjoyed drawing and painting and created beautiful artwork well into her 90’s. She loved playing cards twice a week with her family. Edna maintained an exercise program throughout her life and has always been an inspiration to her family and friends enjoying Pilates into her 90’s. Since 2010 she lived on her own and was very self-sufficient throughout. Getting together and visiting with her family brought her great joy; she especially enjoyed the visits with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often remarked about how much she loved being so close to her family and was very grateful that her children were all nearby.

Edna was a housewife and wonderful mother to four children, Bob (Susan) Jackson, Nancy (Virgil) Steadman, Bonnie (Kris) Wetherell and Barbara Baker (Carl Crider) all of Vero Beach, FL.
