Motorcyclist seriously hurt in two-vehicle wreck

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash Monday, fire rescue crews said.

This is the second wreck involving a motorcycle to happen within less than a week in Indian River County.

Monday’s crash happened about 11 a.m. at 87th Street and U.S. 1 in Wabasso, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The scene of the collision was northeast of the Indian River County Fairgrounds.

The make and model of the second vehicle involved was not immediately available.

The motorcyclist, a man, was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with traumatic injuries, Kofke said. No other serious injuries were reported.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the cause of the wreck. No further details were immediately available.
