No injuries after school bus vs SUV crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — No injuries were reported after a school bus with 15 students aboard collided with another vehicle, which overturned Friday, fire rescue crews said.

Indian River County Fire Rescue crews responded to the crash involving the bus and a sports utility vehicle shortly after 3 p.m. at 51st Avenue and 69th Street. The incident happened southeast of Sandridge Golf Club and west of U.S. 1.

The impact from the wreck flipped the SUV on its side, Battalion Chief David Kiernan said. The SUV had moderate damage, while the bus had minor damage, officials said.

Authorities briefly closed 69th Street as parents drove to the crash site to pick up their children, Kiernan said.

The cause of the crash was not available. Fire crews turned the investigation over to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
