The woodsy Dogs For Life Off-Leash Dog Park was all pumpkined up for the 20th annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Pawrade last Saturday.

Eagerly anticipated by area pooches and their humans, the popular event featured a wide assortment of cleverly costumed canines. The creativity didn’t disappoint, with outfits ranging from a diminutive pooch and her human dressed as candy corn, to a black Lab mix sporting Bat(dog) wings and a Welsh Terrier charmingly channeling a zebra.

Underwritten by Prinz Schumann, whose human, Kathi Schumann, is DFL board president, the Howl-O-Ween festivities included a substantial array of raffle and silent-auction items. There was also a thrilling demonstration by Sheriff’s Office Dep. Ryan Holly with K-9 Ruckus and Dep. Shane Joerger with K-9 Doc.

The robust list of sponsors support the principal mission of DFL which is to train support dogs for veterans and individuals with disabilities.
