New online Fall Film Series starts at the VBMA

This fall join the VBMA in a series of five-week courses of films selected from the finest in classic and contemporary cinema. They will be part of a slightly different Film Studies course as the Museum offers each series as an online, streaming format for students to view at home.

Film Studies 2 Bright Lights: Favorite Luminaries from the Entertainment World begins on November 17 through December 15, 2020. This course pays tribute to some of our favorite stars of stage and screen with a selection of five films that spotlight why we fell in love with them. We’ll peek in on an unusual performance from Burt Reynolds, a special local favorite here in Florida. You may be surprised by the unique “foreign” film, “Snapshots,” where he paired up with Julie Christie, in Amsterdam. Besides Burt, we’ll visit four others from a wide range of both American and international celebrities.

Students may sign up for either the afternoon session at 1:30 p.m. or the evening session at 7 p.m. as part of the five-week film studies offering. Films will be introduced by Film Studies Coordinator, Diane Thelen, but there will be no moderated discussion.
