Newer home in Pointe West sits in charming neighborhood

When the homeowner at 1415 Bunker Court in the East Village in Pointe West moved to Vero Beach for a new job opportunity, he was struck by the spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

Having come from New Jersey, he says, “in the northeast, you don’t have the big sky. When you get a horizon-to-horizon view, it makes you feel so small. The sunsets here are just spectacular.” He enjoys watching them from the comfort of the home’s traditional front porch, which is both deep and wide.

The front porch is more than just a place from which to watch the sunsets and what is going on in the quiet little neighborhood, as friends and neighbors walk by in pairs or with their four-legged friends on what seems like an endless network of sidewalks.

The porch also enhances the sense of entry, protects guests from inclement weather, and provides a place to meet and greet guests or just sit for a spell while sipping a cup of coffee or glass of wine. And since the rear-load, two-car garage is accessed via the roadway behind the house, there aren’t any cars blocking the view.

Just three years old, the three-bedroom, two-bath home is an attractive example of the Viscaya model – the most popular of D.R. Horton’s floorplans in East Village, according to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices listing agent Chip Landers.

Granite countertops, tile flooring – perfect for pets and children – and crown molding add hints of elegance to the home, notes Landers, but the crowning glory is the full-house, gas-powered generator the owner added when he bought the home.

“That’s a big factor, especially this time of the year,” notes Landers, adding that the generator provides peace of mind year-round for those with medical issues requiring uninterrupted power service. With the hurricane season in full swing and the recent uncertainty created by the coronavirus pandemic, it’s comforting to know you have everything you need right at home, including your own power source.

The front door opens into a welcoming foyer with the formal dining room to the entryway’s right. This room could also be used as a den or sitting room, since a generous dining area is located opposite the kitchen, reached via an opening in the dining room.

The kitchen features elegant granite countertops with stainless-steel appliances, a gas range, a pantry and a breakfast bar. A breakfast nook just off the kitchen allows for convenient, casual dining with eastern views. The porch is piped for a gas grill, which further extends outdoor living opportunities.

At the center of the house, volume ceilings open up the split floor plan, with communal gathering areas separate from the sleeping quarters. At the front of the house, two bedrooms and a shared bath are sequestered down a short hallway, so guests or children can have their own private space.

Just off the living room, a screened porch reached through sliding glass doors extends the indoor/outdoor living space. You can throw open the doors during cooler weather and let the crisp air flow through the house.

The owner’s suite is tucked away at the rear of the house, where you can enjoy some well-deserved seclusion. A generous-sized bedroom, adjacent to a luxurious bathroom that includes a walk-in closet, water closet, garden tub, shower and dual sinks, allows plenty of room to maneuver. Near the owner’s suite is the laundry room with a gas-powered clothes dryer, utility sink and storage space.

Landers says Pointe West is a growing community with plans underway for an elementary school. Distinctive villages within the larger development create a special Pointe West ambiance with quiet, sidewalk-lined streets, four community pools, parks and a dog walking area. The Club at Pointe West offers social and golf memberships, featuring a Scottish-inspired, par-72 championship golf course and 10-acre practice facility.

The Pointe West community is located along the West Vero Corridor just off State Road 60 with shopping and restaurants nearby. In just a few minutes in either direction, you can reach I-95 or downtown Vero Beach with shopping, fine dining and numerous art galleries. A quick trip over the Indian River Lagoon takes you to the beaches, Riverside Park, Riverside Theatre and the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
