Man critical after possible drowning incident

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man in his 80’s was critically injured in a possible drowning incident at a residence Friday afternoon, fire rescue crews said.

Indian River County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a drowning at 3:17 p.m. Friday at a home in the 4200 block of 60th Court, Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. Fire crews found the man unconscious in a pool in the backyard, Kofke said.

Emergency responders tried to revive the man. The man was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Kofke said.

Kofke said the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the incident. Sheriff’s officials were not immediately available to comment.
