In Memory: July 8

Esther Carnie, 95, Vero Beach

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Esther Carnie, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, on July 4, 2020. She left us peacefully while in her 95th year.

She was a woman whose kindness and bright spirit impacted many. A woman who made her home a comfortable landing pad for all and a woman who was fiercely independent and full of life through her last days.

Esther’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She treasured each memory and was especially overjoyed watching her great grandchildren grow. She felt immense pride in her flock’s successes and regularly expressed those feelings to everyone she knew. Her love, support and guidance never wavered.

Throughout the years she had also amassed a family of friends. Some spanning back 50 years to her time working at East Islip Junior High School. Other friendships cultivated during her 30 years as a Sebastian, FL resident. She considered many of these to be her nearest and dearest.

She was the beloved wife of the late Roger Carnie Sr. Over 54 years they, together, built a family who adores and admires them more than words can express.

She leaves behind her cherished children, Lynn Franco, and Roger Carnie Jr. (Regina Albanese); her siblings, Wayne Johns (Marianne) and Raymond Johns; her grandchildren, Keith Franco (Cyndi), Craig Franco (Annadelia), Kristen Nachmias (Christopher) and Gabrielle Bove (Christopher); her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Hailey, Evelyn, William, Reese, Noah and Charlie; and her adored grand-dogs, Queenie and Marlow.

She was predeceased by her parents, Viola Johns and Morton Harris; and her step-father, Raymond Johns; her siblings, Robert Harris, Florence Harris and Ronald Harris; her son-in-law, Salvatore Franco; her treasured parents-in-law, John and Alice Carnie; and her much loved uncle, Harry Coleman.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

At the request of the family services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.
