Youth Guidance achieves platinum GuideStar status

Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy recently received the Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations. Platinum is the newest and highest level of recognition. It is only obtained by sharing metrics and indicators of success.

“Youth Guidance depends entirely on the financial support of the Indian River community, a combination of funding from private donors, foundations, and grants,” said Phil Barnes, Youth Guidance Executive Director. “As we continue growing as an organization, we are pleased to have obtained the Platinum Seal, which shows our commitment to transparency and results.”

Youth Guidance is dedicated to enriching the lives of Indian River County youth through mentoring relationships that inspire trust, self-esteem, and positive futures. Youth Guidance works with children ages 5-18. Programs are all free and children are provided with a nutritious meal before programs.

Youth Guidance serves children from low-income homes, who without guidance, may remain trapped in a cycle of generational poverty. With direction from trained staff, mentors and volunteers, these children can experience a path toward a brighter future.
