VERO BEACH — A 54-year-old Palm Bay bicyclist suffered critical injuries in an early Friday crash, authorities said.
The crash, involving the bicycle and a pickup truck, happened about 8:20 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of South Highway A1A, officials said. The unidentified bicyclist, a man, went into cardiac arrest and was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said.
The pickup driver, a 44-year-old man from Fort Pierce, was not hurt, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Yanko Reyes said.
Troopers will investigate the cause of the wreck. No further details were available.
