Tollison Kirby Cruce, 66, Fellsmere

Tollison Kirby Cruce, 66, passed away on May 1, 2020, in Vero Beach, Florida. He was born and raised in Fellsmere.

Kirby worked as a heavy equipment technician and retired as a mechanic. Kirby loved to hunt, fish, run airboats, and mudding. He was a true country boy of the south.

He was an attendee of the Fellsmere High School and received his diploma.

Survivors include wife 46 years, Ellen Cruce of Fellsmere; son Tollison William Cruce (Shlanda) of Fellsmere; sister Eveleen F.  Yates of Fellsmere; brothers Troy “Tec” Eugene Cruce, Jr. of Fellsmere and Earnie Arlin Cruce, Sr. of Fellsmere; nieces Megan Cruce of Palm Bay, Chelsea Cruse of Palm Bay, Diana of Fellsmere, Monica Yates of Serbing; nephews Bubba Yates of Sebring, Justin Mann of Okeechobee, Dustin Cruce of Fellsmere, Darrel Cruce Jr. of Virginia, Lil Earnie Cruce of Fellsmere, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sister Diana Sue Cruce and brother Darrell “Big D” Cruce.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

A Graveside service will be held privately at a later date determined by the family.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, Florida 32958.

James J. Corcoran, 89, Vero Beach

James J. Corcoran passed away on May 6, 2020 in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 89. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Jim and Milly Corcoran. Jim received his high school education at Brooklyn Prep and graduated from Villanova in 1952 with a BA in History and Philosophy. Following his graduation, he married his lifelong partner, Loretta, also a New Yorker whom he met in Washington, D.C.

Jim served in the US Navy (1952-1954) as a Lieutenant on the destroyer escort USS John C. Butler stationed in Long Beach, CA. He then went on to continue his education at Cornell University, graduating with an MBA in 1956.

Jim and Loretta raised their children in Levittown, PA where he held a management role at Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. Here, he was a committed baseball and football coach and established a wrestling program for grade school boys at St. Michael’s The Archangel School where his children attended until high school. After retirement, he settled in Vero Beach where he enjoyed surf fishing and watching Villanova basketball.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Loretta and is survived by his wife Loretta Carabba of 67 years; children James, Jr. (Chris), Carol Brett (James), Gerard (Sue), Nicholas (Joelle); six grandchildren (Jimmy, Nick, Kelly, Jerry, Beth, Kim) and four great-grandchildren (Liam, Jax, Kullen and Keanen).

Loretta and family are thankful to friends and staff at Renaissance Assisted Living for the care and support of Jim.

Given the pandemic concerns, a private family service will be held.
