In Memory: March 26

Consuelo Figueroa, 80, Sebastian

Consuelo “Nana” “Monita” Figueroa, 80, passed away at her home in Sebastian on March 19, 2020. She was born in Marsella, Colombia, on Aug. 3, 1939, to Cornelio and Clara Castaño.

She moved from Colombia to New York in 1981 with her husband and children, and finally settled in Sebastian in 1987.

Consuelo held many positions of work, but her life’s work was to love and care for those around her. Consuelo knew no strangers; she made friends, and radiated love and joy wherever she went.

She cared for family and those she had just met alike, and saw the good in every person.

Even through her final days, her greatest desire was to help others. All those who knew her in life shared a special relationship with her, and every path she crossed was made a little brighter.

Consuelo is survived by her husband, Absalon Figueroa; her four loving children, Vicky Nalbandian (husband, Robert), Ruben Pachon, Gloria Ramos (husband, Victor), and Silvia
Demaras (husband, Peter); 11 siblings; her nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in August 2020.

Love pours out of her heart
An endless well lies deep within her soul.
She carries the instinct…
To nurture,
Hold,
To care,
Protect,
To know,
Inspire,
Selfless,
Intuitive,
Strong,
Woman,
Beautiful…
Mother.
