Man taken to hospital after being shocked by power line

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being shocked by a power line Friday, fire rescue crews said.

The man was putting up an antenna on a camper about 5 p.m. Friday at Palm Paradise mobile home park, 7945 U.S. 1, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The antenna hit a power line, sending an electric shock into the man’s body, Kofke said.

The man was taken by ambulance to Health First – Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Kofke said. His age and an update on his condition were not immediately available.

Florida Power & Light Co. crews responded to the scene to restore power, Kofke said. No further details were immediately available.
