Thomas L. Nolan Jr., 83, Vero Beach

Thomas L. Nolan Jr., 83, of Vero Beach, died Feb. 24, 2020, at Grace Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach. He was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 24 years.

Tom served honorably in The United States Navy from Feb. 24, 1955, to Feb. 23, 1959. He and his wife, Anna, wed on May 4, 1963.

He graduated from Keane College in Feb. 1977 and retired as Director of Parks and Recreation from the County of Union, N.J., in 1991.

He was a member of The Vero Beach Elks Lodge and The Vero Beach Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, in 2006.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday Feb. 27, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, where a prayer service will be said at 6:30 p.m.

A Committal service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills, Fla.

Peter Harry Perlick, 88, Vero Beach

Peter Harry Perlick (Perlić), 88, died Feb. 24, 2020, at Palm Garden nursing home in Vero Beach, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Peter was born in 1931 to Tome Perlić and Maria Perlić in a small village in Lika-Senj County, Croatia. He was one of five children.

Peter fled his home in Croatia in 1951 making his way on foot all the way to Villach, Austria, where he was accepted as a war refugee and subsequently as a Canadian immigrant. Peter traveled by boat to Canada and settled in a small community of Croatian immigrants in Sudbury, Canada.

In Sudbury, he met and married Brenda Bobesich. The couple had three children. Peter worked Sudbury nickel mines before moving his family to southern Ontario where he built several homes.

Seeking a warmer climate, Peter and Brenda moved to Florida with their daughter, Marianne, nearly 45 years ago. They eventually settled in Vero Beach in 1980.

In Vero Beach, Peter and Brenda thrived making many friends and dancing at the Vero Beach social clubs. Peter loved to sing, loved poetry and loved a great pun. He shared jokes with everyone he met.

He built several homes in Vero Beach and enjoyed the beautiful Florida beaches.

Peter was predeceased by his daughter, Marianne; and his son, Emil. Peter is survived by his wife, Brenda Perlick; and his son, Michael (Denise) Perlich; Peter’s close friend and brother-in-law, Zvonko (Nada) Bobesich; his niece, Anne (Richard) O’Connell; his nephews, Chris Bobesich and John Bobesich; and his niece, Brooke O’Connell.

Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, where a prayer service will be said at 5 p.m.

A reception for family and friends will follow at The Plaza Reception Center adjacent to the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local
hospice foundation in Peter’s memory.
