INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash Sunday on U.S. 1, fire rescue crews said.

The wreck happened about 6:40 p.m. Sunday in the 8600 block of U.S. 1, in front of a Burger King restaurant, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Joe Kovaleski said. The crash involved a white Audi and a Chrysler Sedan, which both had moderate damage from impact, Kovaleski said.

A woman and two men were taken by ambulances to area hospitals. One of the men was taken to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne as a precaution, Kovaleski said.

The other two patients were taken to Sebastian River Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Kovaleski said. It was not immediately clear which patient went to which hospital.

The conditions of the injured were not available. No other occupants were in the vehicles, Kovaleski said.

Florida Highway Patrol will investigate the cause of the wreck.
