Deputies arrested Brett Moorhouse, of the 6200 block of 105th Place, Sebastian, on charges of aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence. Moorhouse was held Sunday at the Indian River County Jail on $6,500 bond.

Indian River County deputies responded to reports of a disturbance about 8 p.m. Feb. 4 at Moorhouse’s home. Neighbors told dispatchers Moorhouse was outside screaming and acting “crazy,” reports show.

When deputies approached Moorhouse, he yelled for them to “get off his (expletive) property,” officials said. Moorhouse’s roommate told deputies Moorhouse had been drinking all day and was depressed, reports show.

The man said he tried to calm down Moorhouse before deputies arrived. But, Moorhouse got more agitated and put his hands around the man’s neck, reports show.

Moorhouse then placed the man in a chokehold, putting his arm around the man’s neck, deputies said. A third roommate heard the commotion and helped get Moorhouse off the man, reports show.

Deputies arrested Moorhouse and took him to the county jail. Moorhouse has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. March 6, court records show.
