Brenda Jean Folds Asafaylo, 77, Vero Beach

Brenda Jean Folds Asafaylo, 77, exchanged this life for eternal life on Feb. 5, 2020, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Brenda was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Vero Beach, to the late George Curtis Folds, Sr. and Helen Merle Folds.

Brenda was married to the late Michael Asafaylo for 31 years.

Brenda received her education at Vero Beach High School. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she taught preschool Sunday School and served in various positions in both the children’s ministry and nursery area for over 50 years. Brenda loved sharing Jesus with little children.

Brenda was an excellent cook and baker who enjoyed making a special cake or pie for people she knew on their birthdays. Brenda loved doing for others and selflessly gave of her time and talents to serve others.

Brenda had numerous hobbies, including collecting items for and packing Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, sewing, quilting, ceramics, crafting, and making jewelry. Brenda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include Brenda’s children, Michelle Ceely, of North Carolina, Kimberly Orndorff and Glenn, of Vero Beach, and Robert “Rob” D. Ceely, Jr., and Jaime, of Vero Beach; brother, Charles B. Folds, of Stuart, Fla.; and sister, Nancy B. Hart, of Vero Beach.

Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, George C. Folds, Jr.; and four grandchildren, Anthony, Hailey, Jaxson and Jaysen, all of Vero Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 in memory of Brenda Jean Asafaylo.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m., Saturday, March 7, at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A memorial service will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Terry Ray Heaton, 62, Sebastian

Terry Ray Heaton, 62, of Sebastian, died Feb. 3, 2020, at Sebastian River Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was the owner/operator of Terry Heaton Services, which specialized in drywall and painting services throughout Indian River County.

He was a member of Coastal Community Church, Sebastian.

Survivors include his wife, Rose-Marie Heaton; sons, Joby Heaton, and Cody Heaton; father, Donald Heaton; mother, Helen Heaton; brothers, Michael Heaton, and Lonnie Heaton (wife, Katherine); sister, Pam Heaton; stepsons, Brian Walters, Nicholas Walters, Jarett Wright and John Wright III; stepdaughter, Lauryn Wright; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Dean Heaton.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with Pastor Seth Goldsmith of Coastal Community Church.
