‘Always a Bridesmaid’ now performing at Theatre Guild

In the Vero Beach Theatre Guild’s hilarious comedy, “Always a Bridesmaid,” four Southern women have sworn to keep a promise they made the night of their Senior Prom; they will always be bridesmaids at each other’s weddings – no matter what. Of course, they failed to anticipate so many weddings. Thirty years later, these friends for life are still making the “long walk” for each other. Forsaking all others, in sickness or in health, they repeatedly struggle to stage the perfect wedding despite fistfights at the altar and runaway brides.

Women will relate to Always a Bridesmaid, but how about their dearly beloveds?  Based on reviews, men enjoy this comedy even when the jokes are at their expense.

Playwrights Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, three of the most popular and produced playwrights in the United States, specialize in laugh out loud comedies.  The Guild staged two of them last year and both were enthusiastically received.

Featured in this talented and colorful Always a Bridesmaid cast are Lisa Caperton, Tina Cookson, Connie Laws, Judith Lemoncelli, Liz Keimer and Laura Taylor.

Directed by Art Pingree, Always a Bridesmaid runs now through Jan. 26.  Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students and may be purchased by calling the Theatre Guild box office at 562-8300 or online at verobeachtheatreguild.com.

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild is located at 2020 San Juan Avenue, off 26th street west of the county administration buildings.
