INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A fight among a group of people involving a tire iron and the pulling of a hair weave last month led to the arrest of two women, deputies said.

Deputies said Angelina Marie Horskin threw a tire iron at a man’s back during the brawl. Her relative, Erika Renee Horskin, joined the fight, but lost her weave after the man pulled out her hair extension, reports show.

Deputies took photographs of a red mark on the man’s back shoulder, along with the black and brown weave. The man said he was beat up by the women – who hurled homophobic slurs at him – and another man he knew that pulled up to the scene in a grey vehicle.

On Jan. 8, deputies arrested Erika Horskin, 20, of the 4600 block of 33rd Avenue, and Angelina Horskin, 19, of the 5900 block of Ridge Lake Circle, each on charges of aggravated battery. Both women were released the same day, each on $5,000 bonds.

Indian River County deputies responded to reports of a disturbance about 2 p.m. Dec. 19 in the 1700 block of 32nd Avenue. The man told deputies a group of people “jumped” him after an argument they had earlier with his mother.

The man said he and the Horskins were exchanging texts back and forth with insults and threats. It was unclear what the argument was about.

The man then walked along 32nd Avenue when the Horskins pulled up in a red car and tried to provoke him, reports show. When the Horskins got out of the car, Angelina Horskin approached the man and threw a tire iron at him, deputies said.

The three began to fight. Another man in a vehicle got out and also began to fight the injured man, reports show.

A witness yelled “stop” and the group began to disperse, deputies said. Witnesses told deputies the women were the aggressors that provoked the fight.

Deputies arrested the Horskins and took them to the county jail. The Horskins each have arraignments at 8:45 a.m. March 6, 2020, court records show.
