INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 32-year-old Vero Beach woman died Saturday morning after she was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop after the crash, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Joe Kovaleski said. The woman’s name will be released after her family is notified, highway troopers said.

Saturday evening, troopers located the 2017 red Jeep Cherokee involved in the wreck. Officials were processing the vehicle, though it was not immediately clear where the Jeep was found.

Troopers said the Jeep was traveling at 1:14 a.m. Saturday on westbound Oslo Road in south county, not far from Publix Super Market at South Point. The vehicle approached Citrus Springs Boulevard Southwest when it struck a woman who was walking in the same lane, officials said.

Troopers said the driver of the Jeep did not stop to help. The vehicle continued traveling westbound, officials said.

No further details were available.
