Light-filled Antilles home comes with huge lanai

Walking down the path from the driveway to the front door is an opportunity to experience a Zen moment. The lush foliage lining the brick paver pathway is instantly calming and beckons you to take a few extra seconds to soak it in before entering the home at 2680 Antilles Lane.

The front door opens into the formal living room, a comfortable and brightly-lit space perfect for receiving guests.

Beyond the formal spaces – including the dining room – is the heart of the house, the kitchen, a marvelous creation with marble counters and floors and an island complete with a built-in wine cooler. A large 5-foot by 6-foot pantry sits nearby, providing ample storage for foodstuffs and small appliances.

“I never had a pantry before,” homeowner Jean Tisdall said. “I love it.”

The large pantry is just one of many reasons Tisdall bought the house in 2016. The open interior floor plan and the sprawling screened lanai with no less than three distinct seating/lounging/dining areas were two more.

Being in the Antilles off U.S. 1 is another big plus for the property.

“It’s so convenient to everything,” Tisdall said. “Publix is so close.”

The community’s clubhouse, too, was a draw given its active social calendar. “You get to meet new residents,” she said. There’s Mahjongg, water aerobics, you name it.

“You can be as busy as you want to be,” Tisdall said.

And while Tisdall has been as busy as she wants to be, the 3-bedroom, 4-bath house is bigger than she needs. She’s ready to downsize – but plans to remain in Vero Beach.

“I hope whoever buys it, loves it,” Tisdall said of the home’s future owner.

French doors open out onto the large lanai, bringing in natural light while providing for easy traffic flow while hosting parties. The lanai, Tisdall noted, has accommodated two dozen guests at one time and still had room to spare.

Though the lanai proper does not have a view of the lake, the property extends out from the screens, allowing you to pull up a chair and sit near the water’s edge and take in the view. The lake itself can be viewed from inside the home.

The two guest bedrooms both have private baths en suite, but only one has the French doors out to the lanai – a point of potential contention when family comes to visit.

The master bedroom has its own set of French doors to the patio and is beautifully appointed with a tray ceiling, space for a large bedroom set and dual walk in closets.

The master bath features a garden tub with a private lake view, marble counters, separated vanities, and a water closet.

The house has impact windows, solid wood doors, whole-house water filtration and central vacuum, along with natural gas.

Tisdall said she had expected to live part-time in the Antilles when she bought the home – splitting her time between here and New Jersey.

“That got old pretty quick,” she said of traveling back and forth. Ultimately, she decided to make Antilles her full-time residence. But with kids grown and starting their own families, the need for so much space has decreased.

She has promised her family, though, no matter where she winds up, “there will always be room for them to visit.”
