Cops seek info on Swan Park shooting

Several homeowners in Swan Park reported hearing gun shots on SW Prado Avenue the evening of Friday, Nov. 29. Port St. Lucie police are now searching for an unknown number of suspects who might have been involved.

No injuries were reported. Nor did any home have reported damage.

Police recovered nine shell casings in the 600 block of SW Prado Avenue and noted an unoccupied vehicle had two bullet holes. Residents in the neighborhood described hearing at least five gunshots but none could provide suspect information.

One homeowner told investigators he saw an unknown black car speeding down the street immediately following the gunfire.

The owner of the car that was shot told police that a group of young men were gathered inside a garage at one of the homes prior to the shooting. Police did not identify the address of the garage.

The vehicle owner went on to tell investigators that a male stepped outside the garage to meet with another unknown person “to sell ‘dime bags,’” according to the report police released.

Immediately following the alleged transaction, gunshots rang out, the owner said.

Due to the active nature of the investigation, the Port St. Lucie Police Department is not releasing further information. However, it is seeking any information the public might have regarding the incident.

Those with information are encouraged to contact Detective D’Angelo by calling 772-344-4077, the Port St. Lucie Police Department at 772-871-5000, or remain anonymous by calling Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-TIPS.
