Genealogical Society hosts ‘Engaging the next generation’

The Indian River Genealogical Society is pleased to announce Kiera Murphy, as our program speaker at our regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10, held at the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st St., Vero Beach.

The business meeting convenes at 10 a.m., followed by light refreshments and the program. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Keira Murphy is a life-long educator, passionate genealogist, and creator of curriculum and other educational resources that help engage the next generation of genealogists to discover their own passion for exploring family history.

Integrating genealogy studies into K-12 curriculum has always been Keira’s passion for the last 20 years. She is Head of Middle School at Saint Edward’s School in Vero Beach, Florida and teaches two history elective classes based in genealogy research there.

Keira actively works with educators of all grade levels from around the country, especially those who teach English, history and science, how to best engage students with their curriculum on a more personal level.

She is the founder of Jumpstart Genealogy, LLC and is a regular presenter at local, state, national and international conferences, both for genealogy and education. She lives by the motto, “You’re making history today!”
