12th annual 5K Trot Against Poverty coming Nov. 28

Lace-up your running shoes and help run poverty out of town at the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot Against Poverty 5K. Bring your family and friends and join us for the race and our renowned free Sweet Potato Pancake Breakfast with juice and all the fixings. Start your Thanksgiving off by helping others.

Presented by the George E. Warren Corporation the Trot Against Poverty 5K to benefit United Against Poverty is Thursday, Nov. 28. The wildly popular race has quickly become a community tradition in Indian River County with over 1,900 participating in 2018.

To pre-register to run, walk or volunteer, visit www.trotagainstpoverty.org. Registration and on-site pick up starts at 6 a.m., FREE Children’s ¼ mile race (ages 6 and under) at 7:15 a.m. and the trot begins at 7:30 a.m.

Race starts at Riverside Park in Vero Beach, Florida. Regular registration is $35. The first 1,700 registrants receive a commemorative t-shirt. Everyone is encouraged to form teams and fund-raise for those in need in Indian River County.

Those who raise $100 or more will receive a free Thanksgiving pie.

Registration also includes race bib, timing chip, and Sweet Potato Pancake Breakfast.

United Against Poverty is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to serve those in poverty by providing crisis care, case management, transformative education, food and household subsidy, employment training and active referrals to other collaborative social service providers. All proceeds will be used to inspire and empower people living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency.
