Southeast Tourism Society selects Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival as an ‘STS Top 20 Event’

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Southeast Tourism Society has named Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival one of the STS Top 20 Events in the Southeast for January 2020.

This year’s Frog Leg Festival is on January 16th – 19th. The STS Top 20 Festival and Event Awards have highlighted programs around the Southeast since 1985.

Travel industry experts select 20 events, and STS publicizes them throughout the United States. The complete list is published on two websites: Southeast Tourism Society and Travel Media Press Room.

A local favorite for 29 years. Fellsmere has been proclaimed Frog Leg Capital of the World and The Frog Leg Festival holds 2 Guinness Book World Records for “The Most Frog Legs Served” in the course of one business day and “The Largest Frog Leg Festival in the World”. With over 80,000 attendees serving over 7,000 pounds of frog legs and 2,000 pounds of gator, the Frog Leg Festival has come a long way from its humble roots of 400 dinners! The Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival has something for every member of the family.

“The Top 20 Festival and Event Program is celebrating 34 years of spotlighting the best festivals and events in the Southeast.  Our goal is to provide well-deserved accolades for the dedicated event organizers and additional media exposure for their events,” said Monica Smith, president and CEO of the Southeast Tourism Society. “The Southeast offers so many unique, year-round, opportunities for attendees to create memories and support an industry that is an economic generator for its community.”

“The Frog Leg Festival has been a long-standing event in our County that draws tens of thousands of visitors to our area. When the opportunity arose to nominate the Festival, we knew it would be a winner, not only for its originality but also its economic impact on our community” said Allison McNeal, Director of Tourism.
