Child flown to hospital after multi-vehicle crash

Update: All lanes on northbound I-95 were reopen by 7 p.m.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A child was flown to a hospital and two others were hurt after a multi-vehicle crash that closed northbound Interstate 95 Sunday, causing heavy traffic delays.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on northbound I-95, just north of mile marker 151, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The wreck involved five vehicles, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said.

A boy was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Kofke said. The boy’s age was not immediately available.

Two other people also hurt were taken to local area hospitals.

The conditions for all three were not immediately available. It was unclear when the road would reopen.
