Man hurt in stabbing at home; another in custody

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies are investigating a Thursday afternoon stabbing that left one man hurt and another in custody.

The incident happened about 2:30 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 8300 block of 93rd Avenue, Indian River County sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. One man was taken by ambulance to Sebastian River Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Flowers said.

Flowers said the man in custody is claiming self-defense. Detectives were still at the scene gathering evidence about 4 p.m. Thursday.

Crime scene tape marked off what appeared to be a green shed next to a home. No further details were immediately available.
