Piper to Coordinate Air Lift of Medical Supplies Needed for Hurricane Disaster Relief

VERO BEACH – Piper Aircraft will be collecting donations of medical supplies needed in the Bahamas following the devastation left by Hurricane Dorian. Throughout the week, the supplies that are received by Piper Aircraft, will be expedited to Abaco Island’s Marsh Harbour, using air lift provided by Piper Aircraft and Piper’s M-Class owners.

“Immediately following Hurricane Dorian, I tasked the team with identifying ways to support the disaster relief in the Bahamas. We closely monitored the evolving situation with the goal of determining the best point of entry for providing relief support,” said Simon Caldecott, President and CEO of Piper Aircraft. “At the end of last week we had lengthy conversations with several organizations including our M-Class owners group – MMOPA. Based on these conversations we identified that the need for medical supplies was the most critical and that the ability to quickly transport these items into key areas within the Bahamas is paramount. We established the contacts on the ground who can make certain that the supplies get into the right hands, and now we need to focus our attention on gathering the supplies quickly.”

Piper Aircraft will be gathering as many of the needed medical supplies as possible and will fly them directly into Marsh Harbor using, in most cases, Piper products.

The Piper team will be making their own donations to the cause, but hope that the local community will continue to rally behind the disaster relief effort as the recovery will be long and hard.
