Agencies taking up collections to help Dorian-ravaged Bahamas

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, Vero Beach Police Department and Veterans Council of Indian River County hare continuing to take up collections of goods to send to the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian’s massive damage.

Area businesses, too, are collecting non-perishables and water for the relief effort.

Items that are in need for the islands including ready-to-eat non-perishable foods, canned foods, unopened baby food and formula, pet food, baby supplies, feminine hygiene items, bug spray, flashlights, batteries, cleaning supplies, gloves, socks, water, under garments, toiletries, blankets, trash bags, and tarps.

At this time, clothing and cash are not being accepted. Financial donations may be made to organizations including the American Red Cross and others.

Items can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Walking Tree Brewery, 3209 Dodger Rd., Vero Beach
