Falcon Trace home offers flexible space in beautiful setting

The Clifford home on Grey Falcon Circle in Falcon Trace is about as flexible as an Olympic gymnast – with four bedrooms and three large gathering spaces, owners have numerous options.

For the Cliffords, that meant turning the “official” dining space into a seating/lounge area akin to a living room and converting what would have been the family room into the dining room. The “official” living room was then adjusted to become the family room.

It’s just one way of doing things, according to Berkshire Hathaway Home Services listing agent Michelle Clarke. The family opted to turn the family room into the dining room to better serve their family and friends at gatherings. Moving the long dining table into the adjacent kitchen space allowed for easier serving and entertaining. The sliding glass doors to the covered patio, too, only enhance the entertainment options.

“It’s a versatile floor plan,” she said. “Nine times out of 10, everyone’s in the kitchen.”

Built in 2007, the home features $35,000 in upgrades, including large kitchen cupboards topped with crown molding and upper and lower lighting, a tile backsplash, tray ceiling in the master bedroom, and even plantation shutters.

“It’s naturally a very bright home,” Clarke said, noting the number and size of the windows.

The home has great wall space, providing opportunities for large pieces of art. Clarke said much of the artwork now in the home, as well as the furniture, is negotiable.

The owners converted one of the three guest bedrooms into an office space, but it can easily be adjusted to become a bedroom again, according to Clarke. The other two guest bedrooms are separated by a hall bath complete with granite counters.

The master bedroom enjoys its own en suite, along with dual walk-in closets. The bathroom features separated dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a glass enclosed shower. There are also separate water and linen closets.

Owners Cathy and Craig Clifford have been traveling between their Falcon Trace home and their main residence in Canada, where they have a landscaping company. During Canadian winters, there’s not much for them to do, so they head south to Vero Beach.

After a lot of searching and researching, the Cliffords determined Falcon Trace was the best of the bunch, drawn to the community’s various amenities.

“The pool is like no other,” Cathy Clifford said, explaining that it’s large enough for exercise and landscaped beautifully. Along with swimming, the Cliffords enjoy tennis, another feature of the community center.

For others, there’s a basketball court as well as a sand volleyball court.

It’s a mixed community in terms of ages. “We’re not old,” Clifford said, adding that they have made friends with similarly aged families. “We’re young snowbirds.”

And, while they still have pep in their step, the Cliffords are gearing up for a new chapter in their life – world travel.

“It’s bittersweet for us,” Clifford said of selling their Falcon Trace home and downsizing. Having the home sitting, waiting for them has led them to opt for the easy option – come home to Florida instead of traveling elsewhere. Now they are choosing travel.

But that doesn’t mean the Cliffords won’t be back sometime down the line. Right now, they plan to spend a decade or so traveling the world and then come back to Vero.

“We’ve really enjoyed Vero,” she said. The next stop will be either Italy or Spain. “We can’t decide.”

Listing agent Michelle Clarke has scheduled an open house for the property on Aug. 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
