Second annual Paddle Dash to benefit lagoon program

VERO BEACH — Paddle Dash is a head-to-head kayak and paddleboard race that will benefit Lagoon health. Presented by Dale Sorensen Real Estate, the Paddle Dash races will include races for adults and youth, beginner or experienced.

In addition, there is a Corporate Team Relay Challenge between DSRE, last year’s winner, and the Challengers – Alex MacWilliam Real Estate, Piper Aircraft, Boston Barricades, Republic Services, and Florida Power and Light employees.

The Paddle Dash will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced racers can pre-register with Keep Indian River Beautiful by phone (772) 226-7738 or through www.paddleguru.com/races/paddledash.

Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at Vero Tackle Shop located at 3321 Bridge Plaza Drive in Vero Beach.

Everyone is welcome to join this fun new way to celebrate the Lagoon and raise money to support Keep Indian River Beautiful’s Lagoon Friendly Lawns – a nutrient pollution reduction and recognition program.

Lagoon Friendly Lawn is a free, easy way to reduce your contribution to the nitrification of the Indian River Lagoon by over 57 percent per household.

Visit www.KeepIndianRiverBeautiful.org for more details.

Racers must provide their own personal flotation devices. Kayak rentals are limited. If you don’t paddle but would still like to support the cause, individual donations are also accepted. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, 100 percent of donations remain local and support the community improvement programs such as Lagoon Friendly Lawn, tree plantings, restoration efforts, and community litter cleanups.
