Fire Rescue kept busy over holiday

It was a busy Independence Day for Brevard County Fire Rescue crews who – according to their social media accounts – responded to more than 300 calls, a few hundred medical emergencies, a near drowning, 13 car accidents, one suspected gas leak, five brush fires and two structure fires – including one in Indialantic.

The Indialantic fire occurred at 410 Seabreeze Dr. and reportedly resulted in damage to a fence, two cars, the home’s exterior and minor damage to the attic – but there were no injuries.

After a 5:17 a.m. tweet on July 5 alerting the community to the fire, just after 8 a.m. BCFR updated its Twitter account to indicate the fire was caused by “discarded fireworks in a trash can next to the home.”
