INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Motorists can expect delays Tuesday as a contractor will close a few major streets periodically to dig up concrete for pavement core sampling, government officials said.

The lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Indian River County government officials said. The contractor will close travel lanes on County Road 512, County Road 510 and 87th Street.

Lanes will be intermittently blocked on C.R. 512 between WW Ranch Road and Sebastian River Lane, officials said. Lanes on C.R. 510 will be closed from C.R. 512 and 84th Avenue.

The contractor will close eastbound 87th Street at C.R. 510. Core sampling is a process where contractors drill out several round sections of concrete or asphalt to determine the number of layers, depth, strength and condition of the material.
